Registering For Your Co-op or Practicum

It is required that you consult your academic advisor, faculty supervisor, and the Career Services staff before registering for a co-op or practicum.  This ensures that you have room on your schedule as well as to determine your needs for securing a site.
*If you have registered for a a co-op or practicum and are unable to secure a site by the Drop/Add deadline, you may be encouraged to drop this course and pursue this opportunity at a later date.

Important Dates to Remember
Please apply for a co-op or practicum at least one semester prior to starting your experience. 
ADP students: please apply for co-op at least one module in advance to starting your experience.  Applying well in advance of your experience ensures that the Career Services staff will have sufficient time to assist you.  It also allows time to discuss your career interests, goals, resume, cover letter, job-search strategies, and the interview process. 
*Students who approach the Career Office too late to secure a site run the risk of not finding placement.

Schedule
Please note that the schedules of employers and industries vary.  It is important to consult your academic advisor and arrange your class schedule in a way that will allow you a minimum of 8-10 hours per week to perform your co-op, practicum hours on site.   

 Securing a Site
Early preparation and partnering with the Office of Career Development and Services with help to make you a successful co-op applicant.  We cannot guarantee that you will secure a site if you do not make the time for the proper preparation. 

*If you have secured a site or have a site in mind that is not pre-approved, please contact your faculty supervisor for approval.
