For a winning combination of practical skills and the business knowledge that you can’t learn on the job or in the barn, our unique B.S. in Equine Studies gives you a solid foundational knowledge in the field. It’s a practical way to prepare for an exciting career in a growing industry.

Our program is highly customizable, so you’ll acquire the tools and experience you need to succeed in the field of your choice. You’ll have the opportunity for an “immersion training” semester off campus for hands-on experience in your specialty. But if you prefer, you can complete your degree on campus and select a concentration for an in-depth education. Our advisors work closely with you to choose the courses that focus on what interests you.

  • Equine Law Certificate—combines equine and law courses, offering many potential applications from law to business, real estate, or government careers
  • Equine Veterinary Assistant Certificate—a combination of veterinary care and biology courses that prepares you for a career as a veterinary assistant or office manager in a contemporary equine practice

Students in the Bachelor of Science in Equine Studies degree program benefit from a combination of in-class lectures in anatomy, physiology and nutrition, and barn instruction in safe barn practices, horse management skills, and experience handling a variety of horses in a range of settings. The study of ethical thought and action is applied directly to the concerns of the equine industry. A broad range of elective options permits students to focus on specific aspects of equine study according to their personal interests or professional goals. A program-wide emphasis on public speaking and personal communication ensures that graduates are comfortable collaborating and communicating with established professionals in the equine industry.
