Early Childhood Education Curriculum
The Associate in Science degree in Early Childhood Education prepares students for careers in the field of early childhood education by providing an integrated curriculum of general education and professional studies for students interested in working with young children in an early childhood setting. The course work in this degree assists students in formulating a developmentally appropriate approach to the education of young children. The preparation of appropriate program plans, which involve positive self-esteem, the promotion of social skills, and the development of multicultural awareness, assist students in better understanding children with special needs. Students participate in three field experiences, which allow them to apply their knowledge of young children.
Students who anticipate that they may at a later date wish to seek teacher certification, by completing a baccalaureate degree, should follow the Transfer Track. Those more interested in preparing themselves for immediate employment in the field may wish to pursue the Career Track.
