Post University is currently accepting applications for the role of Faculty/Academic Program Manager (APM) – MPA (Master of Public Administration)


Post University is seeking a Faculty/Academic Program Manager to manage the Master of Public Administration program. The individual will be required to perform three essential University functions: Course development, teaching, and program management in addition to other responsibilities as outlined by the University. The position is based on the Post’s main campus in Waterbury, CT. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and abilities required.


  • Teach 10 courses per academic year or as otherwise determined by the Dean of the School of Public Service.
  • Participate in at least two university committees or as otherwise determined by the Dean of the School of Public Service.
  • Developing academic concentrations, courses and/or programs and/or overseeing their development by outside parties as requested by the university.
  • Using Blackboard 9.1 to develop and deliver online courses
  • Maintaining and supervising an academic program and the capstone research project requirement.
  • Maintaining the online MPA courses under his/her supervision
  • Participate in the hiring, training and supervision of adjunct faculty.
  • Assist adjunct instructors, students and other university staff with questions or concerns about the MPA curriculum and program.
  • Assign instructors to and monitor their performance in online courses each module/semester.
  • Participate in various university committees as a member of the School of Public Service, a member of the graduate studies program and as an APM.
  • Assist with addressing and resolving grade appeals, grievances or other administrative matters as warranted.
  • Attend various university functions as a representative of the MPA program and the School of Public Service (e.g., graduation ceremony, “open house” recruitment events).
  • Organize and participate in various administrative functions as indicated by the university (e.g., building and maintaining program advisory boards, program evaluation initiatives).


  • Ph.D. or D.P.A. in Public Administration.
  • At least ten years of experience working in the military or local, state or federal government in progressively more responsible positions.
  • Experience teaching online is preferred but not required.
  • Experience working with non-profit organizations preferred but not required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to perform scholarly activities as appropriate when warranted or requested.
  • Ability to be flexible, adaptable, well organized and a team player in a fast paced work environment.
