We’re looking for an experienced programmer/analyst to work with a variety of business departments to support their needs. You’ll work with staff and technology representatives to develop new reports and processes, in addition to, refining current ones. Additionally, there are a number of projects that range from departmental to enterprise-wide that this position would play a role on.

Experience in higher education a plus. We have also found it to be a big plus if you have experience working in IT in the following fields: banking, accounting, mortgage banking or finance.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Respond to data related requests that come in through the University’s request system
  • Develop useful and meaningful reports involving multiple databases/platforms (ex. MS SQL, Oracle); prepare reports, which may be confidential in nature, using applications, languages or platforms such as Microsoft SQL Server and Crystal reports.
  • Document processes and develop .net applications to automate those processes where possible
  • Assist in the testing and quality assurance of solutions developed in-house
  • Use judgment in prioritization of work tasks and application of methods and processing functions
  • Review operational processes to enhance data and system accuracy, integrity and security
  • May provide support to University staff as needed

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • 2-5 years experience as a programmer/analyst
  • working knowledge of SQL base systems
  • 2-5 years experience in an IT role developing queries and reports. Experience within a financial department or business such as accounting, banking, mortgage banking is a plus. Experience with financial aid and student accounts within higher education is a big plus
  • 1-3 years experience with computerized report writing applications such Crystal Reports and RDBMS extraction tools such as InfoMaker, MS Access or Query Analyzer.
  • 1-3 years testing and Q/A testing
  • Working knowledge of SQL base systems including T-SQL and stored procedures
  • Ability to communicate and interact effectively with a diverse user population
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Candidate must also demonstrate that they have curiosity and a desire to learn new things, are self-driven, is dedicated to documenting all of their work and is not afraid to think creatively.
  • Prior experience with report writing applications such as Crystal Reports and RDBMS extraction tools such as InfoMaker, MS Access or Query Analyze is a plus
