Academic Background:
MBA from the University of Detroit-Mercy
PhD (ABD stage) in Management at NorthCentral University
Teaching Background:
Keith teaches management courses as part of Post University’s MBA Program, and has more than eight years of online teaching experience at the MBA level.
Professional Background:
Keith held various management positions, ranging from Finance Analyst to Plant Controller to Department Manager, within Ford Motor Company for more than 12 years.
Teaching Philosophy:
Keith’s emphasis in teaching is on distant learning. His teaching goal is to facilitate learning. He also believes that teaching plays a major role in that. His emphasis is on helping the student to learn, rather than just dispensing his knowledge to them. He is there to “light their candle," not just "fill their bucket.”
Keith believes that effective teaching is comprised of two necessary and related elements: knowledge of the content and ability to communicate it. Knowing the material is not enough to be effective in teaching it; likewise, communication skills won't work alone. Thus, he takes care to understand the concepts make them understandable to the students. He organizes presentations with the students’ learning in mind and keeps his knowledge up to date. He also emphasizes the importance of communication by using humor and a variety in teaching techniques to make learning enjoyable so as to motivate the students to learn.
Keith follows these principles in teaching: being enthusiastic for each class and letting it show; learning about the students in the course; organizing each class well; using a presentation style that maximizes student interest; and using a variety of teaching methods to present the material.
He enjoys sharing experiences of real world occurrences in the business world with his 12+years of Management experience. Students tend to understand terminology and concepts much easier when real life experiences shared and demonstrated in the classroom.
Personal Background:
Keith is a Certified Six Sigma BlackBelt and enjoy analyzing processes at work and at home. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with family. He has horses and loves to trail ride with the entire gang.
