Teaching Background
Mr. McDermott, Esq. is in his fourteenth year of teaching at the university level, and has been an Associate Faculty member at Post University since 1999. Courses he has taught on campus include Introduction to Law, Environmental Law, Administrative Law, Sports Law, and Administrative Law. Mr. McDermott, Esq. is a certified online instructor and continues to teach Introduction to Wills, Trusts & Estates, Business Law II, Environmental Law, and Cyber Law.
Professional Background
A practicing lawyer for more than fifteen years, Mr. McDermott, Esq. is the owner of Employee Advocates, LLC. His primary concentration is in Labor/Employment Law, and he represents employees in wrongful termination, discrimination, FMLA, Workers' Compensation, and unemployment matters. His firm also prepares wills, files personal injury cases, represents workers in labor and administrative proceedings, and pursues civil litigation matters in State and Federal courts.
Teaching Philosophy
Mr. McDermott, Esq. believes in giving each student every opportunity to succeed in class. He is willing to take as much time as needed to answer every question a student has, and also expects every student to take responsibility for his or her work ethic. If a student does the reading, puts enough thought and effort into their homework assignments, and works on their writing skills, they will succeed in class and this will translate into the workplace.
