Michael has conducted In-Service Training for numerous K-12 education institutes on the topic of utilizing technology in the classroom. He also has lectured on the topic of utilizing technology in construction to several industry associations including the Construction Specifications Institute and the National Association for Women in Construction. Michael was also an instructor in the US Army.
Michael has owned and operated a project management and consulting engineering firm since 1991. His firm specializes in designing and managing construction and telecommunication projects for the federal government, municipalities, educational facilities and private industries. He brings his practical experience in starting and operating a business to his classroom. He specializes in project management and applies his entrepreneurial spirit to each of his projects. He feels each new project is an opportunity to innovate and improve his management practice.
Practicing Project Management for 20 years has afforded Michael the opportunity to coach and manage 1000's of individuals from diverse backgrounds. He brings the same skills to the classroom. He believes the overall success of the classroom experience is dependent on the individual successes and contributions of each student. He believes his role is to guide, coach, mentor and motivate the students. He feels by promoting a team atmosphere and an environment conducive to learning students will excel.
Michael and his wife home school two of their children and teach classes for a home schooling association. (Yes, home schoolers have schools.) They enjoy sailing with their family, visiting with their adult children and grandchildren, cooking and practicing yoga.
