Selim G. Noujaim, MBA, D.Litt. (Hon.)
Selim Noujaim is executive vice president of his family-owned and operated Noujaim Tool Company in Waterbury, Connecticut, a member of the Connecticut House of Representatives, and a Post University Trustee.
Mr. Noujaim has been a member of the State House of Representatives since 2002, and currently serves as Republican Whip, and as a member of the Commerce, Higher Education and Employment Advancement, Program Review and Investigations, and Regulation Review committees.
Specializing in employee motivation, training and development, Mr. Noujaim is a qualified "Train the Trainer", and former president and CEO of the Washington, D.C.-based American Production and Inventory Control Society. He gives motivational seminars, keynote speeches, and technical presentations throughout the United States and abroad.
Mr. Noujaim is certified in Resource Management at the fellow level and is a graduate of Post University, Central Connecticut State University, and the University of New Haven, where he received a master’s degree in Business Administration. He has lectured at Post University, Naugatuck Valley Community Technical College, and is a former member of the President’s Council of Naugatuck Valley Community Technical College. In May 2004, he received an honorary doctorate degree from Post University.
Mr. Noujaim also is vice chairman of the board of the East End Community Club, vice chairman of the Julia Ashe scholarship committee, and a member of the Children’s Community School Board of Directors.
Mr. Noujaim received The Distinguished Alumni Award from Teikyo Post University; the Merit Award from the Board of Trustees of Community-Technical Colleges of Connecticut; the 1998 Board Award from Workforce Connections; and the Saints Peter and Paul Medal of Honor. He has been honored by the Central Naugatuck Valley Senior Service Network for his dedication to senior issues, received the Dennis M. Buckley Award for excellence in service by an elected official, and honored with the Father Dwyer Humanitarian award given by the Childrens'Community School for his service to underprivileged children.
Mr. Noujaim was presented with a "Children’s Champion" award by the Connecticut Early Childhood Alliance, and in November of 2009, was awarded the Maureen A. Donahoe Life Award by Carolyn’s Place for his steadfast work in and out of the legislature on pro-life and pro-family issues. In March of 2011, Mr. Noujaim was given the first Connecticut Reading Association’s Legislative Literacy Advocate Award honoring a legislator who has been helpful in advocating and supporting literacy at the state and local level.
Representative Noujaim and his wife Linda have been married for 39 years. They have three grown daughters, Bridget, Jessica and Rebecca, and a grandson Vincenzo.
