Many Post University students wish to apply what they learn during their academic year in the professional environment by seeking short-term practical training and/or permanent employment upon graduation. Although this can be a challenging process, the Career Services office is committed to providing individual assistance throughout the year. Recent
Post University graduates are employed in corporations,
firms, non-profits,
academe, and other settings.
We offer informational meetings orienting you to the career exploration process, the job market, as well as individual assistance in developing a strategic plan for your job search. We also guide you through the process of developing a strong resume and cover letters, and provide opportunities for practice interviews. Our office includes a Resource Center that affords access to extensive materials in hard copy or on-line to aid in your job search.
Please note: If you are interested in obtaining a co-op or a practicum site, please make an appointment with the Career Services Office one semester prior to the semester you wish to complete the experience.
Services We Provide
Career Counseling
Individual meetings to develop comprehensive academic and career plans
Workshops on topics such as resume writing, interviewing, job search strategies, choosing a major, dining etiquette, and graduate school
Special career programs with alumni and local companies representing a variety of career fields
Assessments on interests, personality, values, and skills and how that relates to future planning
Resume and cover letter review
Counseling for students and alumni who are career changers or who need to update their resume
Assistance in utilizing technology to secure valuable career information
Placement Assistance
Career Crossing, is a 24-hour, virtual job board. Students can post their resumes for counselor critique and/or employer review, apply for the many job opportunities posted daily, and stay on-top of all career events.
The Career Resource Library includes several company directories, both locally and nationally to assist students with placement. There are also books on such topics as how to get into graduate school, how to write an entry-level resume, and an extensive listing of internships and other service learning opportunities.
A comprehensive web site, with resume writing resources and World Wide Web links to a variety of job search engines and internship resources.
