BiographyAcademic Background:
Dr. James Nardozzi earned his Doctorate in Public Administration from Nova Southeastern University. He has a Certificate in Criminal Justice Education from the University of Virginia and graduated from the University of New Haven with a Masters Degree in Public Administration and a Senior Professional Certificate in Forensic Science. Dr. Nardozzi graduated cum laude from Northeastern University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice.
His published doctoral dissertation is entitled: Leader-Member Exchange as a Measure of the Supervisor-Subordinate Relationship as it Relates to Sick Time Usage in Urban Municipal Police Department in the Northeastern United States.
Teaching Background:
Dr. Nardozzi is currently Academic Program Manager for Criminal Justice at Post University. Prior to joining Post University, he taught in the graduate criminal justice programs at the University of New Haven and at Nova Southeastern University. He has taught in the Criminal Justice programs at Sacred Heart University and first began teaching in 1993 at Naugatuck Valley Community-Technical College’s criminal justice program. Between 1993 and 2009 Dr. Nardozzi was also a Certified Police Instructor in the State of Connecticut.
Professional Background:
Dr. Nardozzi retired as the Deputy Chief of Police of the Waterbury, Connecticut Police Department. During his tenure he served in the Patrol, Forensic Laboratory, Criminal Investigations, Planning & Research, and Parking Divisions of the Police Department. He has investigated over 75 murders and has testified in both state and federal court, as well as at state labor board hearings over 100 times.
Dr. Nardozzi is a graduate of the FBI National Academy, the FBI LEEDS program, and the Connecticut Municipal Police Academy.
Teaching Philosophy:
Dr. Nardozzi’s teaching philosophy is to provide students with accurate and up to date information in the classroom and online, and to demand excellence in student performance.
Research / Academic Interests:
Dr. Nardozzi research interests lie in the management and organization of law enforcement agencies, leadership, and criminal investigations.
Personal Information:
Dr. Nardozzi serves on the boards of various local non-profit organizations.
Professional Memberships:
Dr. Nardozzi holds membership in the following organizations: International Association of Chiefs of Police, New England Police Chiefs Association, FBI Law Enforcement Executives Association, American Society for Industrial Security, American Correctional Association, the Connecticut Chapter of the International Association for Identification, and the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences.
