Financial AidFinancing Your Education & Your LifeAt Post University, education is an essential part of your future success. The objective of the financial aid staff at Post University is to work with you and your family to develop a plan to make your education affordable—a commitment that Post University has dedicated itself since 1890. To develop the most comprehensive plan, utilizing all available resources, we encourage students and parents to apply for all available scholarships, federal aid, grants, and loans. Our financial aid staff can deliver a financial aid award letter to you in as few as 7 to10 days after you have completed and submitted all application forms. Financial Aid commitments are made on a first come, first serve basis. A vast majority of students today use some combination of the following to finance their education and day-to-day living expenses:
When you submit your application for admission, it is important that you indicate whether you intend to apply for financial aid. Once the admissions office receives your completed application, you will be contacted to initiate your financial aid application. Only accepted students, whose financial aid applications are complete, will be considered for financial aid awards. To maintain awards, students must demonstrate satisfactory academic progress. Students must refer to the Post University catalog (see page 40) to understand the specific requirements for meeting SAP. Procedures for Applying for Federal Financial AidIf you are applying for Federal Financial Aid, you must remember to use Post University's school code on your submission 001401. For fall admissions, it is best to apply by February 15. All other applicants are advised to apply for financial aid immediately after submitting an admission application. For fall admissions, financial aid applicants after February 15 will be considered on a first come, first serve basis. For best results, follow the steps outlined below:
Financial NeedWhen students and their parents complete the FAFSA with the Post University school code 001401, the University in most cases will receive an institutional student aid report within 3 days. The federal government determines your financial need through its own methodology. Application DeadlinesFor fall admissions, Post University recommends that students and parents complete the Free Application for Student Aid (FAFSA) by February 15, using our school code 001401. Post University understands that paying for college is the main obstacle in achieving an education and a successful career. Therefore, we encourage you, and the families and guardians involved, to apply for federal aid. For best results apply by our recommended deadline. When contacted by the Financial Aid Office the staff will review with you, the required steps in the process:
Federal Financial Aid Award Letter As quickly as 7 to 10 days after you apply for federal financial aid on the website www.fafsa.ed.gov, our financial aid staff can issue an official financial aid award letter. This letter will outline the federal financial aid for which you qualify. This may include gift aid first, federal, state and institutional funds that do not have to be repaid. Secondly, self-help aid such as Federal or Institutional Work study are offered, these monies go directly to the student and are not used to pay direct costs to the University, unless provided written instructions to do so. Finally, loans are offered to assist the student and family in paying for school. These monies are disbursed to the University and must be repaid. Loans may come in a variety of forms, such as the Parent Loan for Undergraduate Students (PLUS) as well as other alternative financing options that the student, family, and/or friends may apply for. Connecticut State ProgramsPost University participates in the following financial aid programs administered by the State of Connecticut: Post University Student Financial Aid ProgramsIn addition to its participation in federal and state financial aid programs, Post University offers several financial aid programs of its own. These include: Scholarships and GrantsScholarship awards have no repayment obligation. However, students are required to maintain specific academic standards to maintain their award. Scholarships are often included as part of a total financial aid package. A number of programs are available to students who are have demonstrated exceptional talents and academic abilities. 2009 Trustee ScholarshipAnnual scholarship award: 2009 Presidential ScholarshipAnnual scholarship award: 2009 Post Scholarship Annual scholarship award: Academic ScholarshipsAcademic scholarships are awarded to students who demonstrate high scholastic achievement throughout their high school or university career. The following academic scholarships are awarded annually and are contingent upon the student's maintaining a specified Cumulative Grade Point Average while at Post, including:
