Post Equestrians Start Spring Semester Well

Post EquestrianWATERBURY, CONN. (Oct. 7, 2009)  –  At the first show of the semester hosted by Wesleyan University, the Post University Equestrian Team placed 4th out of 11 teams.  Freshman Lauren Donohue of Sterling, MA won her Novice Flat class and placed 4th in Novice Fences, while freshman Kelsey Stinneford of Wayne, ME placed second in Intermediate Fences and 3rd in Intermediate Flat. Third place ribbons were earned by junior Niki Cogliano of Stamford in Novice Fences and freshman Stephanie Thibault of Colebrook in Novice Flat.

Other ribbons earned by the Post University riders went to junior Pam Lyon of Plymouth placing 4th in Novice Fences and 6th in Novice Flat, Niki Cogliano placing 4th in Novice Flat, and junior Ashley Barrett of Ansonia placing 6th in Open Fences.  Senior Megan Dolinskas of Cazenovia, NY and freshman Amanda Nygren of New Hartford also rode for the team, and sophomore Meaghan Hennessy of Roslindale, MA sat this show out with an injury.  She hopes to return to riding soon.

Post University's IHSA (Intercollegiate Horse Shows Association) team expects to continue the season successfully, as the new team members gain experience competing in this challenging sport.  The team practices at Lee's Riding Stables in Litchfield, Connecticut with alumna and Coach Heather Johnson.  The Post University IHSA Equestrian Team competes again on March 6 at UCONN.
