Freshmen Stand Out For Post University Dressage

Post DressageWATERBURY, CONN. (Feb. 20, 2010)  –  Post University’s IDA Dressage Team competed on Saturday, February 20th, at Mt. Holyoke College in South Hadley, MA.  This show was full of firsts for the young IDA team.  With several seniors graduating last semester, most of the riders moved up to new levels at this first show of the semester, which meant learning new tests, and for the First Level and Upper Level riders, riding in a "standard" size dressage arena for the first time as well.  The consistency in placements for all the riders was a real achievement.

Freshmen Alyssa Segala of Prospect and Alicia Mala of Killingworth placed fourth and fifth in First Level with equal scores of 63.33%.  At Upper Training, Sophomore Carlie Serif of Waterbury placed fifth with a 68.00% and Freshman Heather Whiles of Durham placed eighth with 58.00%.  Junior Christine Bittner of Monroe placed ninth in Lower Training with 53.04%.  Leah Krasnor, a junior from Madison, earned 60.50% in Introductory Level, which placed her sixth.  The team was pleased to finish sixth in the overall scoring.  Coach Jennifer Ford of Orange commented on the success of the Post University riders, "The team all rode incredibly well today, especially considering the changes in test and arena.  That put us at a disadvantage, but the riders achieved a great many goals for this show and truly made me proud to be their coach."  The team's next show will be at the University of Connecticut on Saturday, March 20, which Post University is co-hosting.
