Juniors and Seniors Have Chance to Win $500 College Scholarship
WASHINGTON, D.C. – On SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 28 FROM 10-11:30AM, Congressman Chris Murphy (CT-5), Post University and The Sallie Mae Fund, a nonprofit college-access organization, will host a free “Paying for College” workshop at Post University in Waterbury.
Murphy, Sallie Mae and Post University are hosting this event for greater Waterbury area students and parents to:
A lack of financial aid knowledge creates barriers to higher education. According to Sallie Mae, nearly three out of four young adults who didn’t go to college indicated they would have gone if they had been aware of their financial aid options. A college degree is becoming more necessary for employment; according to the U.S. Department of Labor, jobs for those with bachelor's degrees grew by 1.8 million during the past 10 years compared to a loss of nearly 700,000 jobs for those with only a high school diploma.
Parents of students of all ages are welcome to attend to this event.
