Post University Theatrical Players Set To Perform “Noises Off”

WATERBURY, Conn. November 30, 2009 – The Post University Theatrical Players will be performing the classic comedy hit Noises Off from Dec. 2 through Dec. 6 at Post University’s Main Campus in Waterbury.

Written by playwright Michael Frayn, The Tony Award winning play Noises Off is a comedic farce which chronicles the trials and tribulations of a motley and disorganized theatre company as they attempt to put on a show. Noises Off has captivated audiences since its first production in 1982 and has since been heralded as “the funniest farce ever written” by The New York Post.

Regarded by The New York Times as “the most dexterously realized comedy ever about putting on a comedy” Noises Off follows the concept of a play within a play. Broken into 2 acts, the story begins with the cast barely pulling off a dress rehearsal for a sex comedy entitled Nothing On. The 2nd act follows behind the scenes as the play unravels into a comedic disaster.

“This is my 3rd and final year with the Post Theatrical Players and I’m so excited to finish with such an exciting and crazy play,” said Vanessa Champagne, a Post University Senior. Champagne will play the roles of Dotty Otley and Mrs. Clackett.

Along with Champagne, Post University students and local performers will take the stage for the show. The cast includes Holly Lent of Oakville, Micai Tucker of Hartford, Chris and Francis Arevalo of Dover Plains, NY, and Nelzi Chen and Qui Chang of China. Cheshire residents Toby Henst, Chet Ostroski and Kelly Marchard are also set to perform.

“The cast of this play was one of the most talented and professional groups of performers that I have had the pleasure of working with, and it will be a joy to see their hard work come alive on opening night,” said Bob Tansley, Founder and Director of the Post Theatrical Players. “This is a must-see production!”

Noises Off will be playing in the Eagles Nest Theater, located in the lower level of the Student Center. Show times are Friday, Dec. 4 at 7:30PM; Saturday, Dec. 5 at 1PM and 7:30PM; and Sunday, Dec. 6 at 1PM and 6PM. There will also be a student only showing on Wednesday, Dec. 2. Tickets are free, but reservations are preferred. To reserve a ticket please visit www.post.edu/noisesoff or call the box office at 203.228.1930.
