WATERBURY, Conn. – Post University is proud to announce that beginning in September, it will offer a Bachelor of Science degree in Sport Management.
A degree in Sport Management will allow students to turn their passion for sports into a career within the $250 billion sports industry. At Post University, students will be required to take a core group of business courses, along with courses that focus specifically on sports marketing, economics and management. Students also will be required to participate in a co-op experience.
“We're committed to offering market-driven academic programs in today's growing fields,” said Dr. Kenneth Zirkle, president of Post University. “The continued growth in the sports industry and the need for well-trained sport management professionals makes this the right degree program at the right time.”
Students who earn a degree in Sport Management will be prepared for careers in sports marketing, facilities management, promotions, and professional, collegiate and amateur sports program management.
“We've created a program that fuses Sport Management courses, Business courses, and a Co-op experience to best prepare our students for a career in the exciting field of Sport Management,” said Deron Grabel, Post University's Sport Management Academic Program Manager. “Our proximity to New York and Boston make us an ideal choice for students who want to get some valuable on-the-job experience via co-ops before they graduate.”
Students also will have opportunities to extend their classroom learning by working on the field and behind the scenes with Post University's many Division II and club sports teams.
Grabel brings more than a decade of experience in the sport management field. He holds a B.S. in Sport Management from Springfield College and an M.S. in Recreation Management from Lehman College. He expects to complete his EdD in Sport Administration from the United States Sports Academy in 2010.
