Michigan Accounting Requirements

Examination candidates must have a baccalaureate degree from a Board-recognized academic institution, 24 semester hours in accounting and 24 semester hours in business. Accounting courses must include: auditing, financial accounting, managerial accounting, accounting systems and controls, U.S. taxation, and government/fund accounting.

Educational requirements must be completed at the time of application.

Candidates with foreign credentials must have credentials evaluated by any member organization of the National Association of Credentials Evaluation Services (NACES) (
www.naces.org).

Note: Candidates who earned degrees from Canadian educational institutions may submit transcripts to CPA Examination Services and must be postmarked by the application deadline.

Members of The Institute of Chartered Accountants may submit official copies of chartered accountant membership certificates (showing seal, certificate number, and date) with their applications in place of obtaining evaluations of their educational credentials.
