Missouri Accounting Requirements

Effective November 30, 2006, all first time candidates must be;

  • 21 years old;

  • a resident, or regularly employed in or have a place of business in Missouri;

  • of good moral character


AND

have 150 semester hours of general college education to include;

  • A baccalaurette degree or higher;

  • 33 semester hours in accounting (at least 1 course in Auditing and at least 18 semester hours of the accounting courses must be above the introductory accounting level)

  • 27 semester hours in general business courses(i.e. Marketing, Management, Economics, Finance, etc)


Note: CPA review courses offered by regionally accredited institutions are only accepted to meet the 150-hour requirements. Course will be accepted provided credit is awarded for the course. These courses can not be used to fulfill the accounting or business requirements.

Pre-Evaluation Application

Educational requirements must be met no later than 60 days following the actual date the candidate took their first test section(s.) Official transcript(s), Certificate of Enrollment, evaluations, etc are to be submitted to CPA Examination Services at the time of application.

Candidates with foreign educational credentials must have their credentials evaluated by Foreign Academic Credential Services, Inc., Educational Credential Evaluators, Inc., or Josef Silny & Associates, Inc.
