New Mexico Accounting Requirements

First-time candidates must meet the following education requirements:

  • have earned a baccalaureate or higher degree from a Board recognized academic institution

  • have completed a minimum of 150 semester (225 quarter) hours of post secondary, graduate or postgraduate education at a Board recognized academic institution

  • have completed a minimum of 30 semester (45 quarter) hours in accounting

Candidates who were educated, entirely or in part, outside of the U.S. must have their credentials evaluated by any member organization of the National Association of Credential Educational Services (NACES), www.naces.org. Completed evaluations must be submitted at the time of application.
