Biography

Academic Background:

  • MA in Child Study, Eliot-Pearson Department, Tufts University
  • BA in Psychology, Wellesley College
  • MA Thesis:  “Sex Differences in Preschoolers’ Use of Computers”, 1985

Teaching Background:

Jones holds the position of an Assistant Academic Program Manager in Early Childhood at Post University.  Her course specialties are Foundations of Early Childhood Education and Children’s Literature and Language Arts.  Since 2000, Jones has worked as an adjunct professor for several Connecticut Community Colleges. She developed and has instructed the “Family and Community Involvement in Early Childhood Programs” course for the Connecticut Charts-A-Course Directors’ Credentialing System since 2006.

Teaching Philosophy:

Jones seeks to help all students understand and implement effective, intentional teaching techniques that promote children’s optimal development, honor diversity, and ensure authentic partnerships with families as first teachers.

Personal Background:


The mother of a recent college graduate and a college freshman, Jones cherishes her role as their lifelong nurturer, educator and advocate. She enjoys traveling and dancing.  She is a licensed Zumba instructor.

Community Activities:


Jones’ community involvement work has included volunteer work for Be The Match Bone Marrow Donor Registration and church breakfast ministries.  She has served as a member of Connecticut Head Start Education Advisory Boards and the Hartford Artists Collective, Inc. Board of Directors.

Research/Academic Interests:


Jones’ major interests are in the family-school-community partnership and early detection/early intervention areas.
