Teaching Background:

Lucian is an experienced teacher of fifteen years, working in two school districts where he mastered Freshmen, Sophomore, Junior, and Senior Business curriculum. He has served as Business Department Head in the Waterbury Public School System for the past 6 years, where his responsibilities include monitoring and modifying business curriculum, facilitating department meetings based on current business and technology issues and trends, making weekly use of data to evolve teacher assessment, delegating instructional responsibilities based on curriculum needs and teacher reports, developing instructional programs through analysis of CAPT scores, and teaching a diverse curriculum that covers Business, marketing, technology, finance, and communication skills.

Lucian previously taught 6th grade English and Social Studies for two years in Watertown
Connecticut, and was a TEAM mentor for 8 years working with beginning teachers. He is Chair of Mission Statement Committee for NEASC, and has worked with several interdepartmental lessons including cross curriculum lessons with the English department.

Professional Background:

Lucian started and maintained two personal businesses ranging from retail to lawn-care for fourteen years.

Teaching Philosophy

Lucian believes that each student deserves an intellectually and emotionally stimulating learning experience. As an educator he hopes to provide a secure and exciting atmosphere for each individual to reach his or her potential. In order to establish this environment he allows and encourages students’ natural curiosity while giving them access to information. Developing a curriculum around students’ interests creates essential motivation. Students will have the opportunity to discover themselves and study ideas relevant and meaningful to their interests. In order to take learning in the direction of their particular interests, Lucian invites student dialogue. As a teacher he wants to learn about his students and encourage them to express ideas. Lucian uses humor, excitement, and passion to relate to each student. He believes in opening perspectives, watching personal growth, and the construction of knowledge.

Lucian is the parent of two boys. His athletic interests include golf, racquetball, and kayaking. His interests lie in business models and current business trends.

Interests Interest in studying and experimenting with several business models. Heavy research for years on local and national business owners and effective companies. Research on implementing business models on a small scale to use for teaching purposes. Studies using technology in the classroom for more effective teaching practice.
