Professional Background:

Dr. Strompf received his Masters and Doctoral degrees in Clinical Psychology from Florida Tech in Melbourne, Fla. He received an undergraduate degree in Psychology from Geneseo State University (SUNY) in Geneseo, N.Y. During his graduate work, he rotated through a wide variety of practicum placements within a community mental health center system including outpatient, inpatient, emergency services, partial hospitalization and drug/alcohol inpatient settings. He also served as a doctoral intern at the Towson University Counseling Center (Towson, Maryland).

Following his education/training, Dr. Strompf spent 20 years in the human services field as a Coordinator of Clinical Services/Behavior Specialist working with individuals with developmental disabilities. His work emphasized the treatment of people with dual diagnoses and autism. He currently serves as a clinical consultant/behavior analyst for a human services agency in central Connecticut providing services to individuals with developmental disabilities. Dr. Strompf has also worked in a corporate Training and Development setting. He spent three years there, first as a Senior Project Consultant and eventually as a Senior Learning Specialist.  Dr. Strompf began teaching as an Associate Professor for Post University's Master of Human Services program in July 2006. In August 2011, he was promoted to the Dean of the School of Public Service.

Dr. Strompf is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst and a member of the Association of Professional Behavior Analysts. He is also serving as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Child Guidance Center of Greater Bridgeport.   

Teaching Philosophy:

Teaching is more than the extraction, packaging and delivery of information. It is an active, interactive and collaborative process of transformation and transcendence. One must reach out and engage the learner, to inspire him or her, for true learning to be realized.

Personal Background:

Dr, Strompf enjoys reading, music, film, theatre, antiques, biking, hiking, skiing, traveling (and racquetball and tennis in days gone by).

Research/Academic Interest:

Dr. Strompf's primary research interest is assessment of the utilization, efficacy and outcome of clinical services in applied settings.
