Jack FischerBiography

Judge Fischer was named to the Connecticut Superior Court in 2002, and was reappointed for another eight (8) year term in April, 2010. During his tenure on the bench he has presided over criminal, civil, family and housing cases. He is currently the Assistant Administrative Judge for the Meriden Superior Court.

Before being elevated to the bench, Judge Fischer was a Senior Assistant State’s Attorney in the Judicial District of Waterbury from 1996 to 2002. There, in addition to his trial duties he was also instrumental in creating the Waterbury domestic violence docket and was the sole prosecutor assigned to it from 1996 to 2002. Prior to that, Judge Fischer had been assigned to the Appellate Unit of the Office of the Chief State’s Attorney from 1990 to 1996. During that time he represented the State of Connecticut in numerous appeals and in the Connecticut Supreme and Appellate Courts, as well as in habeas matters in Federal District Court and the Second Circuit.

Judge Fischer graduated magna cum laude from Quinnipiac School of Law in 1989, where he was also a member of the Law Review. After graduation he was a law clerk on the Connecticut Appellate Court from 1988-89 to the Honorable George D. Stoughton, and spent some time in private practice before joining the State’s Attorney’s office. Prior to going to law school, Judge Fischer started and ran a successful wholesale provision business.
