Academic Background:

Professional Background:

Ms. Janet Stebbins has been a school psychologist for twenty years, working with children and young adults. She is a nationally certified school psychologist and has extensive experience in the human development, educational psychology, psychological assessment, evaluation, consultation, and intervention planning of young children and adolescents.   

Additionally, Ms. Stebbins is currently an adjunct professor for Post University’s Bachelor of Arts in Psychology program, and for other universities. She teaches classes ranging from contemporary issues in psychology, educational psychology, learning theory, cognitive psychology, and general psychology, to information and research utilization and the bachelor’s capstone project.

Teaching Philosophy:

As an instructor, it is Ms. Stebbins’ mission to help students achieve their educational and career goals by providing a supportive and encouraging learning environment. It is her goal that students will feel comfortable enough to share their thoughts and ideas to learn and expand upon them. She encourages the development of critical thinking skills and strong writing skills, and believes in the application of academic theory to real life and professional practice.

Research/Academic Interests:

Ms. Stebbins’ professional interests range from play therapy, art therapy, trauma treatment, and substance abuse treatment for children and adolescents, to adult life transitions, online instruction, and course development.

Personal Background:

Ms. Stebbins enjoys activities such as walking and hiking, as well as art, music, cooking, and reading. She is a devoted animal lover and has never met an animal she didn't like. She enjoys training and showing dogs.
