BiographyAcademic Background:
Professor Cerruto earned his Masters Degree in Justice Administration from Western Connecticut State University and holds a Bachelor Degree, cum laude, in Law & Society, University of Connecticut. He graduated from Northwestern Connecticut Community College with an Associate Degree in Criminal Justice and was awarded a Certificate in Supervisory Leadership from the Connecticut Criminal Justice Command Institute.
Teaching Background:
Professor Cerruto is currently an Associate Faculty member in Criminal Justice at Post University and is a certified Police Instructor in the State of Connecticut.
Professional Background:
Professor Cerruto is a Lieutenant with the Watertown, Connecticut Police Department. He has worked in law enforcement, in many capacities, since 1987. He is currently assigned to the Office of Professional Standards which includes the following responsibilities: Training Director, Internal Affairs, Public Affairs, Recruitment and Hiring and Accreditation Management. During his tenure he has served as a Patrol Officer, Detective, Patrol Sergeant, Patrol Lieutenant and Commander of Research & Development.
Professor Cerruto is a graduate of the Connecticut Police Academy, FBI/LEEDA Executive Command Institute, the United States Army Military Police School and the Connecticut Military Academy Officer Candidate School. He served as a Military Police Officer with the U.S. Army Reserves and as a Commissioned Officer in the Connecticut Army National Guard.

Professor Cerruto holds membership in the following organizations: the Connecticut Chief’s of Police Association; the Western Area Regional Chief’s of Police Association; FBI-LEEDA Law Enforcement Alumni Association; Connecticut Police Officer Association and the Connecticut Police Accreditation Coalition.
Research/Academic Interests:
Professor Cerruto’s research interests include the organization and management of law enforcement agencies, leadership and community policing.
