Biography

Academic Background:

Executive MBA Certificate from The Ohio State University, Fisher College of Business

M.S. in Library Science from Kent State University

B.A. in History from Wright State University with a concentration in European and Asian studies

Honors graduate of the U.S. Air Force School of Applied Cryptologic Sciences. 

Teaching Background:

Williams teaches in the MBA Program at Post University.

William also serves as an adjunct faculty member in the Information Architecture and Knowledge Management (IAKM) graduate program at Kent State University and he serves on the program’s advisory board.

Professional Background:

William is the Manager of Competitive Intelligence at Aileron, a not-for-profit management consulting organization based in Dayton, OH. As an information professional with more than 20 years experience as an intelligence manager, collector and analyst, he is devoted to helping students learn the intelligence process and the thinking, research and analysis skills needed for delivering actionable intelligence to make better informed decisions.

William has held positions with several Fortune 500 companies including Ernst & Young LLP, Limited Brands, Sterling Commerce, Borden, Inc., and Owens Corning where he was responsible for creating and delivering strategic and tactical intelligence to decision-makers. William is also an active educator.  

As a member of the Society of Competitive Intelligence Professionals and the Special Libraries Association, William has been active as a speaker and leader at both the chapter and national levels. His research interests include data visualization and its use in intelligence analysis, Social Network Analysis, and curriculum development in intelligence.

Teaching Philosophy:

William is extremely passionate about learning and considers himself to be a life-long learner. Because of his own passion, he is deeply committed to helping others learn too.  Because he thoroughly enjoys the educational experience, he is enthusiastically devoted to helping others reach their educational goals.  As a student and teacher, William has had the experience of teaching and learning in both traditional classroom and online environments.  Understanding the strengths and weaknesses of each, he hopes to bring the best of both environments to the students in this class and make it a successful learning experience for everyone.

Personal Background:

William has been married to his wife, Lisa, for 20 years and they reside in Dublin, OH with their three children, Joshua, Nathan and Emma, their cat, Lily and their rabbit, Alfred.
