ACG and National SMART Grant Eligibility

The Higher Education Reconciliation Act (HERA) established two new federal student aid grants for undergraduate students: the Academic Competitiveness Grant (ACG) and the National Science and Mathematics Access to Retain Talent (National SMART) Grant. These are need- and merit-based grants for students who meet additional criteria and complete rigorous academic study in high school and enrollment in college majors in the physical, life, and computer sci­ences; engineering; technology; mathematics; and certain foreign lan­guages.
